Festive Food Drive
HELP SUPPORT THOSE IN NEED THIS CHRISTMAS
Together with Carol Supporting Partner Beyond Bank and their Community Partner The Spiers Centre, we are conducting a food drive alongside our season of Carol by Andrea Gibbs to help those in need this festive season.
Whilst the show is filled with heart and humour, writer Andrea Gibbs wants to shed light on an increasing issue in our society, and we'd like to take the opportunity to help those who are facing the reality of Carol's situation.
We're asking you, our generous audience, to bring in non-perishable food items and toiletries that will be collected during the performance season and given to those in need this holiday season.Â
Food donations to The Spiers Centre go directly to individuals and families across our community who are experiencing homelessness, family and domestic violence, financial stress, crisis or hardship. Many are facing rising living costs, reduced income, unexpected bills, or challenging personal circumstances that leave little or sometimes nothing for groceries, having to choose between paying the rent or putting food on the table.
Donations provide immediate relief, easing pressure on tight budgets and helping people stay stable while they work with the Spiers team on longer-term solutions through financial counselling, emergency relief and wrap-around support.
In the last year, The Spiers Centre provided the equivalent of 25,750 meals and saw an increase of 25% in the number of people seeking assistance.
By participating in our Festive Food Drive, you will be helping to ensure that everyone can experience a joyful Christmas, no matter their circumstance.
Simply bring in your donation items and pop them in the collection box located in the Heath Ledger Theatre Foyer before or after the show.Â
A list of recommended items can be found below.
