Black Swan State Theatre Company of Western Australia acknowledges the Whadjuk people of the Nyoongar Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live.

First Nations People have been telling stories on this country for many thousands of years, and we acknowledge their incredible contribution to the cultural and environmental landscape we reside in.

Playwriting

For Australian Writers:

Black Swan is passionate about Australian writing and is willing to read your plays, hear your pitches and discuss your ideas, big or small. You’ve spent time writing, so our Artistic department will spend time reading. Due to staffing capacity, times of response may take up to three months. All submissions will be responded to.

For International Writers:

Unfortunately we no longer accept pitches for new works from international writers. We only have the capacity to respond to submissions of complete plays that are sent and represented by an agent, or have been produced in a professional context.

For all things playwriting:
  • Produced plays submitted direct or via an agent
  • Pitch documents of new play ideas
  • To book a meeting to discuss pitching an idea for a commission
  • Invites to productions of new works
  • Introducing yourself to the company and learn more about Black Swan
