Audiences react to Jacky

Written by Black Swan State Theatre Company 28 October 2026 2 min

Hear what audiences have to say aboutĀ Jacky, which officially opened this week!

Sharp, funny and unflinching, Jacky by Declan Furber Gillick is a biting new play about family, work, culture, and the compromises we make to survive.

Jacky is a smart, enterprising young Aboriginal man making a life for himself in the city. He’s skilfully navigating the gig economy, skipping neatly from office internships to cultural performances to sex work. But when his little brother Keith shows up unannounced, Jacky’s carefully compartmentalised lives are thrown into chaos.Ā

Jacky, co-presented with Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company, is showing at Subiaco Arts Centre until Sunday 8 November.
