The Nest

Where new ideas take flight.

Located within Black Swan State Theatre Company's Production Facility in Bassendean, The Nest is a purpose-built rehearsal and development space created to support artists, companies and creative projects across Western Australia.

Made possible through the generous support of Lotterywest, The Nest is a space for creative work to grow. The earliest stages of artistic development can be exciting, uncertain and fragile. The right environment can make all the difference – providing the space, comfort and flexibility needed to experiment, collaborate and take creative risks.

The Nest was created to be that kind of space. Filled with natural light, adaptable to a range of creative uses, and designed to remain affordable for the arts sector, The Nest offers a welcoming environment where ideas can be explored, tested and brought to life.

While The Nest is home to Black Swan's own creative activities, it has been established as a resource for the wider sector. Independent artists, theatre companies and creative practitioners are invited to utilise the space for rehearsals, workshops, creative developments, auditions, readings, training and collaboration.
