We're thrilled to share that popular and much-loved theatre maker Ian Wilkes has been cast as Jacky in our upcoming Yirra Yaakin co-production of Jacky by Declan Furber Gillick.

Ian (Moopa) Wilkes is a Noongar man with connection to the Wadjuk and Ballardong people. He is a theatre-maker, director, performer, writer, dancer, and a graduate of Aboriginal Theatre at WAAPA, and a recipient of the Perth NAIDOC award for Artist of the Year.

Many of you might recognise him from his performance in our 2022 and 2024 seasons of fan-favourite Barracking for the Umpire, and The Tempest. Off the stage, Ian has also directed Black Swan's production of York, and our 2025 production of Blue.

For Yirra Yaakin, Ian has directed their productions of Boodjar Kaatijin, Hobo, Songbird, and most recently Operation Boomerang, and has also starred in their production of Hecate.

We can't wait to see him in on stage in this sharp, funny and unflinching work!

Jacky by Declan Furber Gillick will show at Subiaco Arts Centre from 23 October – 8 November.
